About Whalley Construction

Whalley Construction is a company with a proud history on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean for well over a hundred years.

We are based in Darwen, Lancashire in England. My great, great grandfather, Richard James Whalley lived here well over a century ago. As a young man he set up his own company, R.J. Whalley Builders and Contractors. He went on to build many large buildings which still stand to this very day, amongst these is Bolton Road Wesleyan Church which is situated at the end of the road I now live on! His most famous project was Darwen Tower. This fine monument has overlooked the town for 110 years.

After emigrating to Savannah, USA in 1913 he set up Whalley Construction Company. The company went on to undertake large building projects once again including high schools. Upon his death in 1942 aged 78 years, his son Jack took over the business. When Jack passed away in 1965 his son William took over. Whalley Construction continued to build major projects including airport terminals, schools, restaurants and Ted Turner’s CNN building in Atlanta, Georgia.

Whalley Construction continues to this day to provide the customer with high quality work for a reasonable cost. Even though we will not be building you an airport terminal, we aim to be as close to perfection as possible for all our clients in each and every landscape project we undertake.
